The other big news is the update of the H.264 decoder, which is now faster than in Vegas Platinum 10, and night and day much faster than versions 7, 8 and 9. On my DELL laptop (1.3 Ghz i3 Mobile CPU), 1080/24p clips from digital cameras from Canon (for example, the SX230 HS, SLR) have been seen in real time. AVCHD 60i as well. It is interesting to note that, unlike Adobe, Sony does not use hardware acceleration for decoding H.264 special (such as CUDA), but the old hand-optimized code, and whatever the acceleration DirectX generic can offer.
