I need a memory card for my new camera .. SD cards are cheaper, but I'm curious about the SDHC cards and what are the benefits of having an SDHC card.

There are 3 different SD cards
- SD: They go up to 4GB and are a little slower
- SDHC: These are the ones people use today.
i just bought a JVC Everio GZ-MG130 camcorder and it requires an SD memory card. it recommends using a high-speed SD card at least 10 MB/s... when shopping around online, i keep seeing ones that are SDHC memory cards. Are they the same thing or something completely different? SDHC cards are compatible with devices that has the SDHC logo and have higher capacity 4-32Gb.
They are different from a regular SD memory cards. Get the Sandisk Extreme III SD card if you want the high speed ones.

My 4GB SDHC card died recently and shooting RAW with a 10MP D80 on a 2GB card was no joy. 160 photos is simply no enough. So, I ordered 2x8GB SDHC from eBay and they arrived while we were away. Now I can shoot over 600 photos on a card, and way more if I don't shoot RAW. happy me.
